Have you noticed that in today’s society of cultural relativism, tolerance
Prepare yourself to be challenged by the timeless truth of God’s word, the basics
As Samuel is about to choose David as the next king of Israel, God reminds Samuel of something very important; “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” 1st Samuel 16:7.
Throughout the scriptures, God seems to care a lot more about the unseen state that is in us, rather than what everyone else sees. While we judge each other on what is seen in our behavior and appearance, God looks deep in us, to see what no one else sees. This is the place in us that holds what we love most, what we crave, what we are so passionate for, what motivates us. This is what defines us, whether we acknowledge it or not; our lives are motivated by our hearts. What we love, what we pursue determines how we live.
In 2ndTimothy 2:22 it says to “Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” To pursue means to chase with your whole heart and mind. So what are you pursuing? Is it Jesus Christ? Is it walking in righteousness? Is it truth?
Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
